What Avocado Trees Actually Need

Avocado has shallow, oxygen-hungry roots and is sensitive to salinity and chloride, so the balance of nutrients matters as much as the amount. Potassium drives fruit size and oil accumulation, calcium builds firm fruit and healthy root tips, boron supports flowering and fruit set, and zinc keeps the canopy productive.

A Season-by-Season Calendar

Start with nitrogen and balanced feeding during the vegetative flush, move to a balanced formula through flowering and fruit set, then shift to high-potassium ratios such as 10-5-45+TE as fruit fills and matures.
